Peugeot 3008, 2014

  •  Peugeot 3008, 2014

The Peugeot 3008 is also equipped as standard with Hill Assist, which increases the convenience in use but also with safety in mind. When the vehicle is on a gradient and the driver has released the brake pedal, this function maintains the application of the brakes for a couple of seconds. The driver then has time to press the accelerator pedal without fearing the slightest undesired movement of their vehicle when moving off on a hill in forward gear or reverse, for example to parallel park.
With over 500,000 sales worldwide, exceeding the original projected targets by 50%, the Peugeot 3008 is a success due to its strong character. Aimed at customers who are freed from convention, this compact Crossover goes beyond the segments to combine the best of the SUV, a Hatchback and an MPV.

Technological equipment for increased safety
Beyond the considerable developments in its occupant protection, the Peugeot 3008 Crossover has a range of technological features to improve safety as standard equipment, like cruise control and the speed limiter. Also, using a 24GHz radar installed at the front of the vehicle, the Distance Alert continuously calculates the distance from the vehicle in front, expressed in seconds. If this measurement falls below the threshold stipulated by the driver, a visual alert appears on the headup display.

In town, the available space measurement system informs the driver as soon as a suitable sized space is found to park the vehicle. They then simply have to manoeuvre the Crossover in complete peace of mind using two items of equipment. The front and rear parking assistance indicate the distance between the vehicle and an obstacle. A graphic on the screen and sound alerts, which become more frequent as the distance decreases, indicate to the driver his freedom to manoeuvre. A new feature makes the manoeuvres easier. A reversing camera displays the area behind the vehicle on the screen. Its projected vehicle outline is then indicated by coloured lines on the display.

Once the vehicle has been parked, the electric handbrake is applied automatically when the ignition is switched off. An ECU, linked with the ESP, manages the force to be applied according to the gradient. It remains on standby while the vehicle is immobilised to adjust the force if necessary. If the vehicle is stationary but the ignition is not switched off, the electric control can be activated manually with a single touch to the switch conveniently located on the centre console.

The electric handbrake is released automatically when the driver presses the accelerator pedal. Furthermore, this technological solution permits the integration of a compact handbrake control device and so with it the installation of a large storage compartment.

Its modernity lies in its ability to combine the appeal of the Peugeot style with the strength of the Crossover, to unite driving pleasure and functionality. Multi-talented, its abilities become evident as it is used. Its cockpit and its technological equipment stimulate the driver who enjoys the full extent of the dynamic qualities, which are among the best in the segment.

This Crossover was innovated by offering the combination of diesel and electric propulsion as a world-first. Since its launch, the HYbrid4 technology has won over many customers, representing more than 10% of sales of the Peugeot 3008. In Europe, 6% of purchasers of hybrid vehicles also choose the 3008 HYbrid4.

Retaining all of its strengths, the latest Peugeot 3008 and 3008 HYbrid4 are distinguished by an elegant and contemporary style, emphasised by new lights. At the front and at the rear their light signatures now identify them with precision. New technological equipment increases their dynamism and fluidity of use. On the head-up display a full-colour illustration distinguishes between the different functions for instant notification. A new reversing camera makes manoeuvres easier by displaying the area immediately behind the vehicle.

A natural, intense and elegant presence
The Peugeot 3008 Crossover innovated by combining different vehicle types in a completely new way: the dynamism of the Hatchback, the single compartment of the MPV and the high architecture of the SUV. Its reduced dimensions (4.365m long, 1.837m wide) are adorned with a powerful and refined style.

Adopting the latest stylistic codes of the marque, the Peugeot 3008 affirms its character and its qualities with force: high-quality and contemporary style, strength, comfort in all situations, and driving sensations with the ability to adapt.

The strength is clear from first contact as the body protection is reassuring and the fits with precision. The bodywork is encircled by structured wheel arches, wings with expressive folds, stainless steel trimmings with strong 3D sculpting and body sills. On these the light effect confirms the Crossover identity. The 3008 rests on wheel designs which combine lightness and strength, finished in a diamond-sparkle finish and available in Anthra Grey on the 16" and 17" and brilliant black on the 18" rims.

The character of the front face, which has been completely redesigned, is pronounced due to the contrasting aspects. The grille and the foglamp trims appear to form a single chromed part emerging from the bodywork. Adorned with two thin chromed strips, the air intake reinforces the natural presence of the Peugeot 3008. It also gives it a look of stability. The foglamp trims take their inspirational shape from the latest concept cars produced by the Marque.

The innovative technological headlamps with their lively look also appear to be set in the bodywork. They are designed in detail with a subtle contrast of materials. So, the light source is integrated on a black mask surrounded by a chromed part. It rests on the direction indicator and the light signature, both with LEDs and of the flat guide type. Finally, a lateral crossbar sculpted in sandblasted chrome unites all of these components. At the top of the range, the headlamps incorporate for more tranquil driving a xenon lens with automatic height adjustment and directional adjustment.

The Lion badge dominates this rich, high-quality front face. The movement which starts from its recess runs across the bonnet which is naturally followed by the windscreen and the roof. The ample movement of this suggests the comfortable interior occupant space. The touches of chrome on the window upper trim, the body sills and the mirror shells demonstrate a high level of quality. The Lion also adorns the tailgate, accompanied by the name of the marque. New tail lights with a dark tint set off the light signature innovatively - lit by LEDs, the three floating claws have a sharp design and emerge from the lamp with a 3D effect.

To put the finishing touches to the 3008 according to personal taste, the range is offered in a choice of nine colours among which is Ruby Red, a new shade and Pearlescent White, a three-layer paint. On the 3008 HYbrid4, six colours are available now including Shark Grey.

Instruments and controls, the basis of the experience
On opening the door, the passenger compartment proves to be a new source of surprise and attraction. The light provided by the panoramic glass roof reveals the instruments and controls with supreme ergonomics with high quality and clarity. So, the driver takes his seat in a true cockpit with a Hatchback type driving position to enjoy the view forward with a unique experience in a Crossover of this segment.

In the centre of the driver's field of vision, above the dashboard, the 'head-up' display shows key information on its retractable polycarbonate strip (key information: vehicle speed and if selected the speed limiter / cruise control, as well as the proximity sensor for measuring the distance from the vehicle in front, information supplied by the Distance Alert). For immediate reading, each function is now presented in full-colour: white for the vehicle's current speed, orange for the speed limiter, green for the cruise control and red for the Distance Alert.

At the centre of the dashboard the retractable screen displays the interface for the audio-navigation, the trip computer, the front and rear parking assistance and the image filmed by the reversing camera. The various parameters of the head up display and of the Distance Alert are managed by the Toggle Switches which are controlled easily by the fingertips.

The controls permitting control of the progress of the vehicle are grouped together on the centre console which extends to the rear seats. With their forearm resting ideally on the armrest (that hides a capacious storage space), the driver can switch from one function to another with ease which promises great reactivity: gear lever, electric handbrake, Grip Control (for enhanced traction control). The console has laser engraving, an effect obtained by a digitally controlled tool. The beam draws a graduation of lines by depigmentation of the paint on its upper layer, while preserving the properties of the original material.

New trims
On the Active level, a new structured trim is named Grikol which has an effect of intertwining of threads with a changing appearance, depending on how the light falls, the effect changes from matt to gloss finish. For the Allure level, this offers an elegant and technical trim which mixes materials. The central part of the seat cushions and seat backs feature the Grikol textile, available in three colours: Guérande, Mistral and Ikoïa (which is specific to the 3008 HYbrid4). It is also possible to opt for the Leather Pack. The tops of the door trim pads and the dashboard are also covered with leather with the Full Leather Pack, which also includes power adjustment of the driver's seat.

Comfort and practicality of use
The occupants feel relaxed, wherever they are seated, due to a high level of soundproofing and a large glazed surface area which bathes the passenger compartment in light. The panoramic glass roof increases the glazing to an impressive 5m². It is also tinted to limit the penetration of light and heat, and also has an electric shutter.

At night, the natural light is replaced by lighting in the front footwells and by an ambiance LED in the roof console. The light even accompanies the user outside the Peugeot 3008 with the Follow Me Home function which keeps the lights on for up to thirty seconds, enough time to reach home for example, or with the guidance lighting on unlocking the doors. This timed period can be calibrated for the convenience of the user.

In the ergonomic cockpit, the driver is in a dynamic position inspired by the Hatchback. This special feature in the segment is achieved by means of three universal joints making it possible to give the steering wheel an ideal angle. In the front, the passengers can enjoy the journey ride in full safety, separated by a well-placed grab handle which link the centre console and the dashboard. In the rear, the passengers benefit from considerable space due to the streamlined seat shells facing them. All of the seats incorporate foam of a density which varies depending on the contact area. So, the seat backs and seat cushions offer excellent comfort whereas the side area offers firmer support.

Storage compartment for all seats
For everyday practicality, the passenger compartment has numerous storage compartments, amounting to a total of nearly 50-litres. The central armrest conceals a vast volume of 13.5 litres, permanently ventilated. It can accommodate, for example, a 1.5-litre bottle. The front passengers have 7.0-litre door trays, a 3.7-litre locked space below the steering wheel and a 4.1-litre litre glove box, with a net on the right-hand side of the centre console (LHD only). It is the same in the rear: two covers are integrated under the feet of the passengers, 3.3-litre on the left and 3.8-litre on the right, there are door trays of 2.5-litre and finally nets on the back of the front seats.

Well thought-out modularity
The tailgate and the lower tailgate or hobby can bear a load of 200kg, opening up a very accessible boot. In fact, the Multiflex interior allows you to adapt the boot of the Peugeot 3008 to suit your requirements due to the three-position boot floor and the folding rear seat backs. This adjustableheight floor structure is made of a composite material to which it owes its lightness, only 3.5kg, to making it very easy to handle. It is also fitted with four securing rings for attaching a luggage boot net. The Easy Flat rear bench seat has clear modularity. In a single movement, the seat cushions retract and the seat backs fold by means of controls located in the boot or at the top of the seat back. At the front, the passenger seat can be placed in the table position by pivoting the seat back. This is a practical feature for those who wish to transport complex shaped or long length objects.

So, the volume can vary from 512-litre (432dm3 VDA standard) under the shelf to 1604-litre (1241dm3 VDA standard), including the storage compartments on each side of the boot. Placing the front passenger seat in the table position increases the loading length to 2.62m. Finally, the boot has all the latest thoughtful features: the rigid load space cover opens with the tailgate to open up the loading space. It can also be removed and folded to be stored under the removable floor. On the left-hand side, the boot space interior light doubles as a removable electric torch light which charges automatically when it is placed in its holder to offer 45 minutes of use.

The 3008 HYbrid4, the first diesel-electric full-hybrid Crossover
As a world first, the combination of a 2.0-litre HDi FAP diesel engine of 120kW (163bhp) and an electric motor of 27kW (37bhp) has resulted in the HYbrid4 technology. It permits a true breakthrough in terms of reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions but also four-wheel drive with the internal combustion engine driving the front wheels and the electric motor the rear wheels. Its power reaches a total of 147kW (200bhp) with a maximum torque of 300Nm at the front and 200Nm at the rear. The dynamic performance is first class while at the same time reducing the impact on the environment as the fuel economy, in the Combined Cycle, is low at just 3.4 l/100km, that has CO2 of just 88g/km.

Simple to use, the best-selling diesel-electric hybrid technology in the world allows the driver to choose between four different driving modes:
In Auto mode, the electronics automatically control the whole system, making optimum use of the internal combustion engine and the electric motor. This mode exploits all of the dynamic characteristics of the diesel hybrid: 'diesel' front-wheel drive, four-wheel drive or electric drive to the rear wheels. It is also in this mode that the best fuel economy is possible and the lowest CO2 emissions are obtained.
The ZEV mode (Zero Emission Vehicle) provides access to an extended electric drive. The Peugeot 3008 then becomes the ultimate ecological vehicle, due to the total absence of pollutant emissions and noise. The driver can, in particular, engage this mode to drive discreetly in town, or to take full advantage of the comfort and pleasure of driving in silence. When the battery level becomes insufficient for use under purely electric power, the internal combustion engine restarts and the operating mode switches automatically to the Auto mode.
The four-wheel drive mode (4WD) improves traction by stipulating the use of both the engine and motor to work together to ensure grip and traction are optimised. The distribution of the torque can reach up to 40% on the rear axle at very low speed and changes according to the conditions of grip and the speed. The electronic control units are responsible for controlling the driving of the rear wheels precisely as it is necessary to optimise energy consumption.
The Sport mode, favouring dynamism, authorises a more responsive throttle response and more rapid gear change patterns at higher engine speeds than are programmed in the Auto mode. The full dynamic potential of the 3008 HYbrid4 is then mobilised to achieve maximum performance. In this mode, the idea of 'controlled power' takes on its full meaning: the simultaneous operation of the internal combustion engine and electric motor increases the liveliness ('boost' effect) which brings drive to all four driving wheels in the most effective way to obtain stability and sensations which driving enthusiasts appreciate.

The Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 is distinguished by its badges, bearing the name of the technology on the front doors, the radiator and the tailgate. Brilliant Black touches are located on specific areas around the vehicle, on the grille beam, the aerodynamic spoiler and on the side mouldings. This effect is also a feature of the 17" diamond wheels, with the HYbrid4 branding produced by laser engraving.

Efficient dynamism
The 3008 Crossover provides handling that will delight the driver and passengers alike due to carefully designed aerodynamics (Cd of 0.296), reduced weight (from 1399kg) and a compliant suspension set-up to a very high level. To reduce the weight, the 3008 uses VHSS (Very High Strength Steel) and UHSS (Ultra High Strength Steel) panels, reducing some 12.5% of the weight of the vehicle, with aluminium for the bonnet and composite materials for the front wings.

The driver will enjoy in particular the precision of driving and the road holding, promises of a dynamism which is remarkable in the segment.

Peugeot expertise
These qualities originate from the chassis specification with an inverted pseudo MacPherson design for the front suspension, and a drop-link anti-roll bar. This architecture permits rigorous road holding and precise steering. At the rear, the suspension features a deformable crossmember, two trailing arms and an integrated anti-roll bar, benefiting compactness and rigidity. The wide track directly benefits the precision of driving control and the comfort that comes from the composure and stability they provide, whether in cornering or in a straight line, when accelerating or braking.

For optimum control of the roll, the DynamicRolling Control
To take control of vehicle roll on high-performance models, Peugeot 3008 is equipped with technology that has been developed in collaboration with KYBSE®. This passive hydraulic system makes it possible to accentuate the dynamic qualities still further while maintaining a high level of comfort. The two rear dampers are linked by a central module which consists of a floating piston and a compensation chamber, which is pressurised to 20bar.

During a roll phase, rounding bends or during avoidance manoeuvres, the hydraulic transfer takes place between the two dampers to allow the vehicle to corner as flat as possible. Comfort and active safety are therefore further improved.

During regular cruising phases (in a straight line) each of the two dampers are activated in the same way. The floating piston then slides under the changing pressure of these compressions, permitting an optimum damping pattern favouring comfort. The Dynamic Rolling Control is available with the 2.0-litre HDi FAP engine, with a manual or automatic gearbox.

An extensive choice of engines
The range starts for diesel with CO2 at just 110g/km and economy of 4.2 l/km (67.2mpg) with three types of gearbox available, all with six speeds: manual, automatic or ETG (Efficient Tronic Gearbox). Grip Control, for enhanced traction
This system, patented by the PSA Group, makes it possible to extend the field of use of the 3008 Crossover in areas where controlled traction can optimise conditions of poor grip. Using electronic components which are already fitted on the vehicle, Grip Control is combined with Michelin Latitude Tour HP 'Mud & Snow' tyres of size 215/60 R16.

Versatile and flexible, it adapts to the terrain encountered by acting on the front wheels but always leaves the driver in full control. In fact, they can decide at any time to allow the intelligence of this equipment to act in Standard mode or select, on the dial placed on the centre console, the mode that they wish to use for specific terrain conditions: Snow, All Terrain, Sand, ESP Off.

The Grip Control is available on a wide number of models in the Peugeot 3008 Crossover range (the 1.6-litre THP 155 6-speed automatic engine, the 1.6-litre THP 155 6-speed manual, 1.6-litre THP 163 6- speed automatic, 1.6-litre e-HDi 115 ETG6, 1.6 HDi 115 6-speed manual and the 2.0-litre HDi 150 6-speed manual).
