Smart forjeremy Concept, 2012

  •  Smart forjeremy Concept, 2012

An electrifying encounter between the internationally renowned fashion designer Jeremy Scott and the smart fortwo electric drive has produced a fascinating smart fortwo. An electric car, ready for lift-off into a new era of mobility - full of lightness and joie de vivre. The unique smart forjeremy has wings - a familiar trademark of the American star designer. The wings light up like igniting rockets to form avant-garde rear lights. The smart forjeremy showcar, which will be launched in 2013 as a limited special edition, was unveiled on the eve of the 2012 LA Auto Show at Jim Henson Studios in Los Angeles, with music provided by the artist M.I.A..

The Wings - the symbol for carefree driving fun
True to form, the cooperation itself was out of the ordinary, smart being the first car brand to permit a fashion designer to make changes to the vehicle's body. As Head of Mercedes-Benz and smart design Gorden Wagener explains: "Cooperations with fashion designers are normally limited to selecting interior materials and interior and exterior colour schemes. With Jeremy Scott, however, we wanted to go one step further and integrated the typical wings as a central design element in the vehicle body. This was quite a challenge, because it was not just a case of creating a showcar, but rather of creating a near-series study with the potential for licensing it for road use in the future."

Wings are one of the recurring design elements used by Jeremy Scott to great effect. Be it sweatshirts, sunglasses or sneakers, winged motifs crop up again and again in his collections. "For me, wings mean freedom, a sense of weightlessness. Because of this, I definitely wanted to have them for the smart electric drive in order to convey the way it frees the environment of noxious emissions and symbolises the new lightness of mobility", explains Jeremy Scott, who, in addition to his fashion collections, also creates unique costumes for pop stars such as Lady Gaga, Madonna, Katy Perry and Rihanna.

The smart forjeremy - an electrifying love story
Within eight months, Jeremy Scott had developed the smart forjeremy together with designers of the "smart Design Division" at the Mercedes-Benz Cars Advanced Design Studios in Carlsbad, California. Gorden Wagener says: "Working with Jeremy was fantastic - he is a veritable fireball of creativity". With the typical stylish design of the smart fortwo to inspire him, the international fashion giant came up with a whole host of visionary ideas.

All of which results in an avant-garde and futuristic smart with loving details based on the overriding wing theme. The smart forjeremy is painted in bright white, against which the chrome-plated tridion cell glistens like a jewel. On either side of the vehicle is a wing made of transparent fibreglass and decorated with rocket-shaped elements that light up red, serving as rear and brake lights. "Transparency was a very important factor for me, since it represents lightness and space", explains the designer.

The vehicle's dynamic, self-assured look is further enhanced by means of wider rear tyres and wider rear wheel arches. The wheel rims are shaped like aeroplane propellers, giving the impression that the electric smart might take off at any minute. With the elegantly curved "eyebrows" above its front headlights, the smart forjeremy conveys both untamed curiosity and unbridled joy. Complementing the tridion cell, the eyebrows are bright chromium plated, as are the top half of the mirror caps and the frame around the radiator grille.

The Luxurious interior - a dream in white
The exclusive and elegant marriage of white and glistening chrome accents is continued in the interior of the vehicle, creating an undeniably luxurious look. Together with interior designers of the "smart Design Division" in Sindelfingen, Jeremy Scott chose fine white nappa leather for the instrument panel, seats and door trim. Whilst the instrument panel features minimalist seams, the seat insert areas and the centre panels in the doors boast extravagant diamond stitching. The gleaming chrome surfaces of the main door trim and typical smart elements such as the closing handles, the side boomerangs of the instrument panel and the characteristic rings on the dashboard instruments form an elegant contrast to the matt white.

Shaped like a jet engine, the bright chromium plated side air inlets complete the wing theme on the exterior. The white steering wheel with two chrome spokes is open at the top, further enhancing the sporty, sweeping impression of lightness.

Exciting and stylish driving fun - without any emissions
The smart forjeremy is based on the current production version of the smart fortwo electric drive. With its 55 kW electric motor the smart fortwo electric drive accelerates from 0-60 km/h in 4.8 seconds (0-60 mph in 11.5 s), and with a maximum speed of 125 km/h (78 mph) driving pleasure is also guaranteed on urban motorways. The 17.6 kWh lithium-ion battery enables the urban two-seater to travel approximately 145 kilometres in city and achieve 122 city miles per gallon gasoline equivalent (MPGe) without producing any local emissions.

Skoda Citigo 5-door, 2013

  •  Skoda Citigo 5-door, 2013

Å koda presented the new Citigo 5-door subcompact. Following a successful debut in its Czech home market, Å koda will be introducing its seventh and most recent model line in other European markets this spring as both a 3- and a 5-door version. This 3.56 metre long car is Å koda's entry into the fast-growing subcompact segment. The Citigo stands for a perfect price-value ratio and offers a maximum of space, clever features, high safety, perfect handling and an attractive design. The Å koda Citigo is produced in Bratislava.

"Following our record sales result in 2011, we intend to keep on growing in the coming years. The Citigo is of crucial importance to this growth strategy. This new model will open up the fast-growing subcompact segment for our brand," says Å koda CEO Winfried Vahland. "This will provide a lasting boost to our favourable market position in Western and Central Europe and Europe's big cities. The Citigo is the perfect car for the city: compact yet roomy, economical yet agile, attractive, safe and featuring many clever ideas. The Citigo offers all of Å koda's brand values on the smallest possible footprint. This is especially true of the 5-door version," said Vahland.

Compact and roomy
At 3.56 metres long, 1.65 metres wide and 1.48 metres high, the Citigo ranks among the most compact and at the same time among the roomiest cars in its segment. The Citigo is to conquer new customer groups for Å koda especially in Europe. Says CEO Vahland: "The Citigo puts us on the map in a car segment that today represents almost 10 percent of global car sales. Europe accounts for one quarter of these sales. In the years to come, demand for cars with low fuel consumption, an attractive price and low operating costs will grow sharply. This means the Citigo is coming at just the right time and will win over many customers for Å koda, especially in Europe."

A subcompact for all generations
In marketing the Citigo, Å koda is targeting young drivers just as much as families looking for a second car or so-called "best agers." "Our new model is a subcompact that transcends generations and caters to individuals that are highly cost-conscious and have a high demand for quality, practicality, design and safety," Winfried Vahland stresses. It is exactly the combination of these qualities that the Å koda Citigo embodies perfectly. Three trim lines are available: Active, Ambition and Elegance.

Clever all around
True to the "City Clever" motto, the car is an allrounder made for the city. It handles easily and offers superior visibility. At the same time, the car offers Å koda's typical interior values, providing a high level of "Value for Money". No competitor from outside Volkswagen Group has a bigger boot volume (251 litres) and interior width (1.36 metres). Folding down the back seat rest increases luggage volume to 959 litres. Thanks to a 2.42 metre wheelbase, four can sit in comfort even on long trips. In the three-door version, an Easy Entry function facilitates access to the rear seats.

Quite a character
This city runabout's design shows a character typical of the brand. The first look will tell you: her comes a real Å koda. The Citigo is the first model ever to bear the brand's new logo. Å koda's new crest, set into the moulded front edge of the bonnet and onto the car's rear has been reduced to bare essentials and is executed in chrome and black. The winged arrow is contoured more precisely than hitherto and comes in chrome where it used to be green. The round emblem carrying the arrow at its centre is black with an enclosing chrome ring. The laurel wreath and Å koda lettering have been dropped from the new logo.

The chrome-framed slat grille and the precisely moulded headlights combine with the new logo to create the typical Å koda face. The designers also outdid themselves in the lateral body layout, which impresses with its clear contours and large glass surfaces. The brand's typical C-shape in the taillights and the logo make the Citigo as unmistakable from the rear as it is from the front.

Simply Clever
The clean and clear layout of the cabin and the bicolour dashboard in the higher-value trim lines create a sense of wellbeing on board the car. A number of ingenious features make the Citigo a real "simply clever car" à la Škoda. One expression of this are the many storage options, cup and multimedia holders and the storage nets on the sides of the front seats' back rests. Other clever solutions include the bag hook integrated into the glove compartment opening mechanism or the photo holder on the dashboard. A convenient range of nets permits safe transport of objects in the boot.

Safety writ large
The Å koda Citigo's designers placed great emphasis on safety. As a result, the Citigo - together with the Volkswagen up! and the Seat Mii - was awarded the top score of five stars in the Euro NCAP crash test. For the first time in a Å koda, head-and-thorax airbags are available for the driver and front seat passenger. This and other features amount to an exemplary passive-safety package. The new "City Safe Drive" braking assistant is an innovation and a safety highlight. This optional city emergency braking function activates itself at speeds below 30 kph. A laser sensor will detect an impending crash. Depending on speed and traffic situation, the subsequent automatic brake actuation can reduce the severity of an impact or even prevent them altogether. This significantly lowers the risk of inner-city rear-end crashes. Together with the VW up! and the Seat Mii, the Å koda Citigo is the only car in the subcompact segment so far to offer this emergency braking function.

Efficient engines
Two new three-cylinder petrol engine in two power variants has been available in the Citigo from its launch: the engine has a displacement of 1.0 litre (999 cu cm) and output 44 kW/60 hp or 55 kW/75 hp. In Green tec, the most efficient variant, average fuel consumption is 4.1 l/100 km. CO2 emissions are 96 g/km. Engines and transmissions have been designed for optimum fuel efficiency in the city and in an urban environment. They will reach their operating temperature quickly even during short trips and will thus operate extremely economically.

Despite their small displacement, the engines achieve a high torque at a low noise level. Based on current plans, a gas-powered engine will be available besides the petrol engines. In this version CO2 emissions will be 79 g/km. In addition, an automated transmission will complement the manual gearbox before year 2012 is out, further improving the Citigo's efficiency.

Distinctive front end
Innovative and fresh, the Citigo immediately conveys the message: I'm with the Å koda family! The car's appearance displays all the elements of Å koda's new design.

Å koda's redesigned logo rests prominently in the bonnet's moulded front edge. Clear and precise, the winged arrow is now executed in chrome on a black-matte base. The Å koda logo rests atop the distinctive grille, whose 19 slats are enclosed by a finely drawn chrome frame. Expressive headlights flanking the grille create the unmistakable face of the car, which endows the front of the Å koda Citigo with additional optical width.

The new Å koda Citigo's headlights give the car a pleasant appearance. Chamfers in the cover glass create optical vibrancy and a precise grinding of the glass. The reflectors in the main headlights, blinkers and daytime running lights all contrast with their shiny black cover plates, thus creating three-dimensionality and optical depth. The front bumper displays a clear and orderly layout. The air intake with its vertical slats and integrated horizontal bar complete the new Citigo's distinctive appearance, as do the circular foglights with their black frames.

Designers went all out in creating the car's side section. The car's lateral contour shows a 1 ½ box design with a short engine area and generous passenger space, one of Å koda's basic brand values. The Citigo impresses with its cleanly modelled surfaces, precisely drawn lines, clear contours and ample side windows. A slightly rising beltline conveys dynamism without obstructing rear seat passengers' visibility. The wheelhouses' vigorous arching and ample lateral surfaces makes the wheels appear larger and underlines the car's solid appearance.

A long wheelbase and minimal overhangs at the front and at the rear make for good proportions and perfect handling in the city. The Å koda Citigo may be ordered as a 3-door or as a 5-door model. In the three-door version, the doors will open to circa 130 cm at an angle of about 80 degrees, permitting easy entry and exit.

The Citigo's rear section displays an equally clear and distinctive layout. The new Å koda logo is positioned centrally on the ample tailgate's raised area. The tailgate's contours run on into the taillights, whose brilliant and three-dimensional execution is typical of Å koda, as is the C-design with a finely drawn reflector band creating unmistakable recognisability both by day and by night. Slender and vertical, the taillights make room for the wide tailgate, which is handsomely framed by the pillars on either side and by the bumper. A clearly designed bumper unit with an integrated numberplate holder underscores the optical width of the car's rear thanks to its horizontal lines, rounding off the Å koda Citigo's solid and high-quality appearance.

Just as compelling is the new subcompact's interior. The first impression on boarding is a surprise at a space that is generous and airy for its class. The cockpit shows a horizontal layout, clearly conveying optical width. Depending on the trimline chosen - Active, Ambition or Elegance - the cockpit is available in interesting colour combination. At the centre of the driver's attention is a steering wheel with lots of grip displaying the new Å koda logo and a combination instrument in a compact design. For good ergonomics, the control unit for the air conditioning, radio and other functions has been placed in the middle of the dashboard. Atop it sits a wide flat-jet nozzle providing draft-free ventilation inside the car. Round jets that can be completely shut have been positioned near the pillars.

The seats with their integrated headrests have been ergonomically designed and provide optimum lateral hold. A large number of combinations of colours and materials convey quality and lots of wellbeing. Numerous storage compartments in the centre console, the glove box and the doors offer enormous storage space and deliver on the Citigo's functional promise. A multitude of Å koda-typical "Simply clever" solutions such as the bag hook on the glove compartments opening handle, the photo holder on the dashboard or the optional "Move&Fun" navigation system will turn every trip in this car into a special experience.

The Å koda Citigo proves its enormous space offering not just to the driver and the front seat passenger, but also to rear seat occupants. Comfortable seating elements can be tilted to permit an enormous increase in boot capacity.

The new Å koda Citigo is a completely new car with a clear and attractive design, perfect functionality and an excellent price-to-value ratio which is bound to set new benchmarks. Here is a car with extremely compact dimension representing a milestone in the ultracompact segment regarding precision and space economy.

Generous space, perfect comfort on board
One of the longest wheelbases in its segment - engines positioned far out front - newly designed axles: the Å koda Citigo's engineers pulled out all the stops to make optimum use of space in the car down to the last millimetre. It's a success: occupants ride with space to spare, in comfort with no hint of tightness. The new Citigo demonstrates that even a subcompact can be roomy on the inside.

The car's interior width is another best in segment. At 1.36 metres, it is way above what most competitors have to offer and makes for good freedom of movement. Headroom numbers in the back also leave nothing to be desired.

The three-door version's "Easy Entry" function enables effortless access to the rear seat. This involves pushing front seats forward and simultaneously folding down its backrest with just one motion of the hand so that rear-seat occupants can sit down easily.

Ergonomic aspects impress with their excellent design, as does seating comfort. Seating position is not too low, and sufficient thigh support in conjunction with knee room creates a comfort level not generally associated with a subcompact. In this connection, designers paid special attention to the positioning of the steering wheel column including the steering wheel itself

At 251 litres, the Citigo's boot space is the largest in its class. The boot also impresses with its height: it will hold objects up to 58 cm high. The boot lid will open to 185 cm. On folding down the rear seat backrest, boot volume increases to 959 litres (Å koda Citigo 5-door). In addition, the resulting loading surface is almost level, permitting to transport objects up to 2 metres long in the Citigo. Other practical items include four hooks in the boot for bags or other objects. In addition, a double storage net attachment suitable for holding objects up to 3 kg in weight in space is available for the boot.

Seat Ibiza, 2013

  •  Seat Ibiza, 2013

The next generation of the successful Spanish model is here - the new SEAT Ibiza captures the heart with its young, emotional design and fun-to-drive zest, and convinces the head with its innovative technologies and further improved functionality and quality. Plus, the new line-up offers enormous breadth to meet every individual demand - from the compact and sporty three-door SEAT Ibiza SC, to the dynamic and universal five-door SEAT Ibiza, to the elegantly practical SEAT Ibiza ST estate car. When it comes to engines, the line-up extends from the extremely efficient Ibiza E-Ecomotive with 89 grams of CO2/km to the exceptionally sporty SEAT Ibiza FR with 110 kW (150 hp). There are two strengths in particular that are common to all versions - a very high standard of quality and outstanding value for money. Market launch of the new SEAT Ibiza is scheduled for spring 2012.

The SEAT Ibiza is one of the best-selling models in its segment throughout Europe and the average age of its buyers is the youngest in its market segment. Design has long been one of the Ibiza's foremost strengths - named as the most important reason for purchase by customers, and to the same degree across all three body variants. This trend is set to continue in future - with its modern, fresh and optimistic look, the new Ibiza marks a further significant development of the SEAT design identity and prepares the way for future models.

Beneath its striking design, the new SEAT Ibiza offers an impressive array of innovative technologies. The latest-generation state-of-the-art TDI and TSI power units, the DSG transmissions and the start/stop system combine dynamics with exceptional efficiency and guarantee SEAT's signature driving fun.

The bodyshell - three variants, one for every requirement
With its three bodyshell variants, the new SEAT Ibiza fits perfectly into every lifestyle. The five-door Ibiza, the three-door Ibiza SC and the Ibiza ST estate are not only design masterpieces, they also offer an interior that is exceptionally spacious and flexible for this class of vehicle.

The new Ibiza - universal five-door
On its market launch in 2008, the SEAT Ibiza was the first model on the all-new Volkswagen Group platform developed for this segment. This means not only more stability and comfort, but also an excellent standard of safety. The five-door with its sporty, eye-catching design comes with a luggage capacity of 292 litres. With such a generous amount of space, the Ibiza is ideally equipped for the practical challenges of everyday life.

The new Ibiza SC - sports coupé with three doors
At SEAT, sporting character is anchored firmly in the brand philosophy. With the three-door Ibiza SC, the company offers a model with a distinctly dynamic design and incredibly neat dimensions (4,043 millimetres long and just 1,428 millimetres high). Yet, behind the rear bench is room for 284 litres of luggage. The sports coupé boasts exceptionally agile handling characteristics, without making any compromises in comfort.

The new Ibiza ST - the most beautiful estate in its class
With its harmonious and highly elegant estate bodyshell, the SEAT Ibiza ST offers a wide range of possibilities for everyday and leisure use. The Ibiza ST offers an extremely high level of functionality, without making any concessions in its design. Despite its sporty lines, the storage capacity behind the rear bench is generous at 430 litres. There are two possibilities for increasing the load volume, both requiring just a few simple movements. The fast version is to fold the rear seat back onto the bench; as of the Style equipment line, the rear bench is split 60:40. Alternatively, you can first tilt the seat cushions upright; this delivers a virtually flat load surface, while the compact rear headrests fit into niches on the underside of the bench. Loaded to the roof, the SEAT Ibiza ST then offers up to 1,164 litres of storage space. There is even plenty of room for two bicycles with their front wheels removed. The maximum load capacity is 515 kilograms.

The standard equipment package for the Ibiza ST includes illumination and bag hooks in the luggage compartment. As an option, SEAT can deliver nets and additional box compartment under the tray for the load compartment. The accessories programme includes mounts and fixtures for the transport of skis, bicycles and roof boxes, as well as a tow hook. Depending on the engine version, the SEAT Ibiza ST can tow up to 1,200 kilograms (braked, on an 8 percent incline).

The new design - attention to detail
Sporty character and high product quality are written all over the new Ibiza's face - SEAT Design stands for technology and precision, as well as for youthful avant garde. The distinctive centrepiece is the trapezoidal grille featuring the SEAT logo. The flatter proportions and horizontal honeycomb structure of the grille and the lower air intake emphasize the width of the new SEAT Ibiza. The bumpers front and rear have been redesigned with a look that is particularly accentuated on the sporty Ibiza FR version. Standard equipment on the FR and available as an option on the other models are the large fog lamps with integrated cornering lights.

The sophisticated design of the headlamps bears testament to the enormous attention afforded by SEAT to the details. The edgy style of the lamps is a hallmark feature of the new SEAT design language, while being perfectly integrated into the SEAT Ibiza's sculptural form. The headlamps are available in two halogen versions or with optional bi-xenon lamps and LED daytime running lights. The latter trace the form of the headlamps to deliver a unique light signature, as do the optional LED rear lights (standard on the FR).

Clear and athletic character
From the side, the new Ibiza looks like a precisely hewn sculpture on wheels. The characteristic "Línea Dinámica" runs from the headlamps over the powerfully drawn wheel arches to the rear. A second, equally sharp character line runs across the muscular rear shoulders to the rear lamps. These powerful lines and the interplay of taut surfaces lend the Ibiza an athletic character - on both the three-door sports coupé and the universal five-door.

Even the functional estate car conveys an unmatched look of dynamism - without any restriction to its exceptional utility. The self-confident design of the rear end gives the SEAT Ibiza ST a very powerful sign-off. The roof-edge spoiler with integrated third brake light protrudes a little beyond the large rear windscreen. The rear lights emphasise the width of the vehicle with their horizontal, inward running design. At the spot where their extended lines meet is the large SEAT logo that - as on the five-door and SC, too - serves as the handle for the rear hatch.

"The new-generation Ibiza fits perfectly into the SEAT brand identity. It has a powerful and solid stance, it displays a dynamic character and always remains refined and self-confident," says Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos, Head of SEAT Design.

The interior - high quality on the inside, too
The emotional power of the exterior design is also reflected in the interior of the new SEAT Ibiza - with a forceful but extremely minimalist and clearly structured cockpit design. The exceptional feeling of quality, the high precision of the workmanship, the wide choice of colours and materials ranging all the way to fine leather upholstery serve to underscore SEAT's standards. The level of detail can be sensed throughout the new Ibiza - in the new three-spoke steering wheel, in the new control unit for the Climatronic, in the new paint surfaces. The focus, however, always remains on functionality - the new instrument binnacle with its improved display is one example, the significantly larger glove compartment, another. With a generous storage volume of 10.7 litres, this storage unit now offers space for a lot more accessories and useful items than simply a pair of gloves.

The seats in the SEAT Ibiza are ergonomically formed, with a sporty, low-slung mounting position that can also be positioned higher, according to preference. The seats are generously padded with cold foam - they combine comfort with excellent body support and are outstanding over long distances. In the Ibiza FR, the exclusive sports seats have pronounced side cushions - providing the body with exceptionally firm lateral grip.

A further comfort factor is the steering wheel, which is adjustable for height and reach. The steering wheel and gearknob are optionally available clad in leather, a feature that is standard for the FR line. In the SEAT Ibiza FR the steering wheel has its own distinct and even sportier design.

All display and operating elements are conceived so that the driver can read and use them completely intuitively. Beneath the elegant cover of the redesigned instrument binnacle are the large dials for engine revs and road speed recessed into sporty tubular surrounds. The display between the dials shows fuel level, temperature and information from the on-board computer, which is standard equipment as of the Style line.

The new control unit for the air conditioning is located in the lower section of the centre console. A manually controlled air conditioning unit is optional with the Reference line. For the Style and FR lines, SEAT offers optionally the fully automatic Climatronic system, which shows the selected temperature in a large illuminated display.

Above the air conditioning control is the operating unit for the audio system, which also incorporates an aux-in connection. A USB interface and Bluetooth hands-free set-up are among the options.

The tautly executed dashboard, circular air vents, the three-spoke steering wheel and a short gearstick - the sporty, emotional character that distinguishes the exterior of the SEAT Ibiza carries through to the inside, too. All details of the interior display meticulous workmanship, recognizable in the quality of the materials. All buttons and switches have precise movements with clearly defined travel and a satisfying "click" operation; the dashboard surface is padded with soft foam.

In the Style and FR equipment lines, black leather upholstery is available as an option for the seats. For even more individualisation, there is an additional Design package.

The Drive - sporty and efficient engines
The engine line-up for the new SEAT Ibiza is broad-ranging and consists of new-generation three and four-cylinder power units. The range of petrol units extends from the incredibly economical 1.2 litre with 44 kW (60 hp) to the energetic 1.4 TSI with supercharger and turbocharger. 110 kW (150 hp) and the standard-fit DSG transmission catapult the SEAT Ibiza to 100 km/h in just 7.6 seconds, and onwards to an impressive top speed of 212 km/h. In the new Ibiza, this power unit is now also available for the ST estate version, which will wear the FR badge for the first time.

Particular efficiency is delivered by the Ibiza 1.2 TSI Ecomotive - the state-of-the-art power unit with 77 kW (105 hp) delivers refined drive with its maximum torque of 175 Newton metres from 1,550 r/min to 4100 r/min, yet sips on an average of just 4.9 litres/100 km - thanks also to the start/stop technology that is fitted as standard.

The TDI engines with common-rail injection are even more efficient when it comes to fuel consumption and emissions. The 1.2 TDI CR makes do with just 3.8 litres/100 km (Right Hand Drive: 3.9 litres/100 km) and achieves excellent CO2 emissions with 99 grams/km (Right Hand Drive: 102 grams/km). The 1.6 TDI CR, available with an output of either 66 kW (90 hp) or 77 kW (105 hp), also boasts exemplary fuel consumption at 4.2 litres/100 km (CO2 emissions - 109 grams/km) for the 66kW version and 4.7l and 24g/km for the 77kW.

The sporty pinnacle of the SEAT Ibiza diesel line-up is marked by the 2.0 TDI CR with 105 kW (143 hp) - shared beween the Ibiza SC FR and Ibiza five-door FR. No competitor in this segment offers such a powerful diesel, and no other masters the combination of performance and efficiency so effectively - its performance off-the-mark (0 to 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds) and top speed of 210 km/h is balanced by an average fuel consumption of just 4.6 litres/100 km (CO2 emissions - 119 grams/km).

The Ibiza 1.2 TDI CR E-Ecomotive - particularly efficient
The efficiency highlight is the SEAT Ibiza 1.2 TDI CR E-Ecomotive with an average fuel consumption of just 3.4 litres/100 km. This equates to a first-class CO2 figure of 89 grams/km - in all bodyshell variants. Yet the compact hi-tech TDI delivers attractive performance with its 55 kW (75 hp) and its highly respectable torque of 180 Newton metres. The Ibiza 1.2 TDI CR E-Ecomotive is fitted as standard with start/stop technology that contributes to fuel saving without the driver having to make a conscious effort. When the car stops at a red light, for instance, and the driver goes into neutral, the start/stop system switches the engine off. As soon as the clutch pedal is depressed again, the engine immediately restarts automatically. The car is also equipped with a recuperation system that regenerates energy during every braking manoeuvre. This reduces the load on the engine and lowers fuel consumption.

The efficient Aerodynamic package on the Ibiza 1.2 TDI CR E-Ecomotive incorporates an enclosed radiator grille and a lower air intake that optimises airflow within the engine compartment. It also includes a 40 millimetre longer front spoiler, a spoiler on the rear hatch, special deflectors on the rear wheel arches and 15-inch wheels with closed covers. These modifications result in a drag coefficient of 0.30. A shift recommendation display and slightly increased tyre pressure (2.9 bar front, 2.7 bar rear) complete the efficiency savings package of the SEAT Ibiza 1.2 TDI CR E-Ecomotive.

Hi-tech transmissions and running gear
Just as modern as the engines are the transmissions in the new SEAT Ibiza. Alongside perfectly spaced ratios within the five and six-speed manual gearboxes, a number of engines are offered with DSG transmissions either as standard equipment or as an option. This dual-clutch transmission offers not only the comfort of an automatic, but also the benefit of compelling efficiency.

The running gear of the new Ibiza boasts an extremely sophisticated layout that has been carefully fine tuned, giving the compact model handling characteristics that are as sporty as they are safe. The ESP electronic stability program is standard equipment. Engines as of 77 kW/105 hp are combined with the XDS electronic differential lock. When the electronics recognise that there is too little load on the front inside wheel during cornering it applies a brief braking impulse. The system compensates in this way for understeer, making the handling neutral and delivering powerful traction - just like a mechanical differential lock. The well balanced interaction between the various electronic systems ensures safety even in difficult situations. A powerful brake system with ABS is another example.

The standard electrohydraulic power steering has a sporty and direct set-up. It delivers a precise feel, fast feedback and intuitive changes of direction. It has a variable output pump, which uses only the amount of energy necessary for steering - remaining inactive during straight-line driving. This solution offers major benefits compared with a purely hydraulic system that permanently circulates its oil volume.

Comprehensive equipment, perfect individualisation
The equipment lines of the SEAT Ibiza range have also been revised, independent of bodyshell form. The base model Reference makes a compelling argument with all the key comfort and safety features. Above it is the Style version, which comes with air conditioning as standard. The Ibiza FR sets particularly sporty accents with expressive design elements front and rear, alloy wheels and a leather-clad steering wheel. The FR version of the new Ibiza is available in all bodyshell variants with the 1.2 TSI (77 kW/105 hp) or 1.4 TSI (110 kW/150 hp) petrol engines, or the 1.6 TDI CR (77 kW/105 hp) diesel. Reserved exclusively for the Ibiza SC FR and Ibiza FR is the 2.0 TDI CR (105 kW/143 hp) diesel. And every SEAT Ibiza can be adapted perfectly to suit personal style and individual preferences with an extensive range of colours, options and accessories.

The Ibiza runs on redesigned wheels ranging from 14 to 17 inches in diameter. For the Reference line, these are 14-inch steel wheels with 175/70 tyres; for Style, there are 15-inch steel wheels with 185/60 tyres. The new Ibiza FR runs on 16-inch alloy wheels clad in 215/45 tyres. SEAT offers sophisticated alloy wheel designs as options for all equipment versions - 15-inch for Reference, 16-inch for Style and, for the FR, even a 17-inch model. Scion iQ, 2012

  • Scion iQ, 2012

The Scion announced that its 2012 iQ premium micro-subcompact arriving in dealerships October 2011. The Scion iQ is only 10 feet long yet seats four people, making it the world's smallest four-seater.

Meeting the needs of a new trendsetting generation of urban drivers, the iQ succeeds at taking big ideas and concentrating them into a small package. Made possible by intelligent and functional packaging, the iQ is a small car that offers the functionality and comfort that drivers expect from a car twice its size.

The Intelligent Design, Not Sacrifice
Instead of sacrificing features or comfort to reduce its footprint, the iQ relies on intelligent design. Six engineering innovations are responsible for the iQ's ability to be small in size, but large in capability. A compact front-mounted differential, high-mount steering rack with electronic power-steering, and a compact air-conditioning unit all amount to significant decreases in front-end length. In addition, the iQ is equipped with a flat gas tank housed beneath the floor that reduces rear overhang. Slim-back front seats optimize rear legroom, while the "3+1" offset seating arrangement allows one adult to sit behind the front passenger and a child or small package behind the driver.

Driving Performance of a Larger Car
With a 78.7-inch wheelbase and a unique suspension design - consisting of Mac Pherson struts up front, and a compact torsion beam rear suspension - the three-door hatchback can deftly maneuver through city traffic. In addition, its overall length of only 120.1-inches, and short front and rear overhangs allows the Scion iQ to fit into virtually any urban parking scenario. Although short in length, the iQ has a wide stance at 66.1-inches, giving it a confident stance that handles like a much larger car.

Smooth Drivetrain and Better Fuel Efficiency
The 2012 Scion iQ is equipped with a 1.3-liter, four-cylinder engine that produces 94 horsepower and 89 lb.-ft of torque. It features the latest dual VVT-i, which allows the engine to be efficient, providing a broader powerband yet requiring less fuel and generating fewer emissions.

The engine is paired with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) that helps deliver smooth acceleration and excellent fuel efficiency. The iQ is rated an Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (ULEV-II) and achieves an EPA-estimated combined fuel economy rating of 37 miles per gallon, comparable to similar vehicles of its size.

Small in Size but Big on Safety
In order to be considered a premium micro-subcompact, the Scion iQ comes standard with safety features that drivers expect and demand. The iQ is packed with an industry leading 11 standard airbags, including the world's first rear window airbag. Other airbags include driver- and front-passenger airbags; driver- and front-passenger seatmounted side airbags; side curtain airbags; driver- and front-passenger knee airbags; and a Scion-first driver- and front-passenger seat-cushion airbags.

All iQs come standard with the Star Safety System, which includes antilock Brakes (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Traction Control (TRAC), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Smart Stop Technology brake-override. A tire-pressure monitoring system is also standard equipment.

Iconic Styling
The iQ's profile, defined by a strong and high beltline, glides from the large, stout headlamps, up the A-pillar, across the roof and wraps around the rear, emphasizing the iQ's geometric shape. Side mirrors with integrated turn signals accent the clean design and give it a premium look.

The rear emphasizes the vehicle's modern style. Trapezoidal lines run toward the wheels, from the hatch to the bumper's rear diffuser-like accent, creating a substantial presence.

The iQ available in seven exterior colors, including Blizzard Pearl, Classic Silver Metallic, Magnetic Gray Metallic, Black Sand Pearl, Hot Lava, Pacific Blue Metallic and Black Currant Metallic.

High-Tech Interior
The iQ's functional "3+1" seating equates to the world's smallest four-passenger vehicle. The four-seat configuration is made possible because the driver and frontpassenger seats are slightly off set.

The rear seats are extremely versatile, featuring a 50/50 split and the ability to fold flat, creating enough storage to accommodate large suitcases. The iQ comes standard with a leather-wrapped steering wheel with red stitching, and features a flat bottom that provides additional thigh room. The steering wheel incorporates audio controls to manage the iQ's impressive sound system.

The Scion iQ comes standard with a Scion Drive Monitor that displays information like outside temperature, average MPG and an ECO-drive indicator that helps the driver maximize the iQ's fuel efficiency.

Impressive Audio with Standard Bluetooth® and HD Radio™ Technology
The iQ truly focuses on youth with its all-new standard AM/FM/CD/HD/USB 160-watt maximum output Pioneer™ audio system. Standard features for all 2012 Scions include Bluetooth connectivity, which allows both hands-free phone connection and streaming audio capability, and HD Radio technology. Streaming audio allows compatible phone or personal media devices to pair with the audio system and deliver music through the vehicles sound system. The audio system also features an organic electroluminescent (OEL) screen with a personalized welcome screen, iPod®/USB connectivity, Advanced Sound Retriever (ASR), and a subwoofer RCA output. The USB port and universal auxiliary (AUX) port are located on the center console, which allows users to listen to their portable music collection through the iQ's four Pioneer speakers.

The optional 200-watt maximum output Pioneer Premium audio system has the same features as the standard Pioneer audio, but it is enhanced with a 5.8-inch LCD touch-screen display, features iTunes® tagging, Pandora® internet radio connected through iPhone®, and six RCA outputs to add external amplifiers.

A Scion Navigation audio system is also available for urban drivers who would like the added convenience of easily finding their way around the city. The 200-watt SNS 200 system has all of the features of the standard and premium audio systems but it adds a navigation system and DVD player that are accessible through an easy-to-use seven-inch touch-screen LCD display. Navigation functions include a Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) system with comprehensive U.S. and Canada map coverage, plus guidance to millions of points of interest.

All three of the audio systems retain key Scion audio system features such as Scion Sound Processing® (SSP), where listeners can choose from three pre-set equalizer settings, satellite radio compatibility and MP3 and WMA capability. In addition, all units have the capability to adjust the volume control based on driving speed.

Saab 9-3X, 2010

  •  Saab 9-3X, 2010

The Saab 9-3X is the ideal alternative to large and heavy crossovers or SUVs. With distinctive looks, a versatile Sport Wagon body, higher stance and advanced all-wheel drive technology, the Saab 9-3X also offers excellent fuel efficiency and functional storage .

The Saab 9-3X is available with either Saab's 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine (210hp), combined with the technically advanced Cross Wheel Drive system (XWD), or the highly regarded 1.9 TTiD diesel engine (180hp) with front-wheel drive. Overall, the 9-3X embodies Saab's turbocharging philosophy, combining a dynamic driving experience with a fuel efficient powertrain to achieve responsible performance.

Distinctive Appeal
The Saab designers have raised the chassis 35mm higher (20mm higher on the FWD diesel model) than the standard two-wheel drive Saab 9-3 SportCombi. It is specifically designed for those who frequently use gravel or unpaved roads, without compromising the driving experience on tarmac.

The Saab 9-3X is a car in tune with the lifestyle needs of today's customers. "The 9-3X is an efficient all-rounder for anyone who doesn't want or need an SUV- type vehicle," says Simon Padian, Saab Brand Design Chief. "Simply put, we are offering a vehicle that will do what's required in more comfort and style than a heavier SUV."

New front and rear bumpers feature a dark grey, grained finish that is also applied to the side sills and the edges of the wheel arches as a protective covering when the terrain becomes loose or muddy. This treatment is complemented by skid panels with a matt aluminum finish, curving up towards the door opening at the rear and adopting a wing form in the lip of the lower front bumper. These are matched by matt, aluminum-coloured lower door strips and roof rails with the same finish. Visible, twin round exhaust tailpipes are standard for both engine options. Front fog lights ringed with a chrome finish add yet another rugged accent.

With the addition of unique design, 5-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels, the Saab 9-3X's exterior character reflects its ability to handle mixed road conditions, whether rough or smooth, loose or paved.

Inside, the Saab 9-3X interior features a unique trim, adding a dark metallic finish to the door trims, glove box and gearbox surround. The unique sports seating features grey fabric inserts in the black leather upholstery.

Total Traction With Power
At the heart of the 9-3X is Saab's cutting-edge XWD technology. It is an intelligent, active system that continuously distributes engine drive torque between the front and rear axles as required for optimum stability and traction in all conditions. To optimise traction the Saab XWD incorporates an innovative, pre-emptive engagement of the rear wheels. Unlike conventional all-wheel-drive systems, this eliminates the need to detect front wheel slip before rear drive is activated.

The hardware includes an electronically-controlled Torque Transfer Device (TTD), which varies power delivery between the axles. A valve increases or reduces hydraulic pressure on wet clutch plates inside the TTD to progressively engage or disengage the rear axle. The degree of 'slip' dictates how much drive is transmitted to the rear wheels. The standard fit rear limited slip differential (eLSD) operates on the same principle, splitting drive across the axle to whichever wheel has more traction.

The 2.0 Turbo petrol engine, delivers a potent 210hp and thus conforms to Saab's right-sizing principal by producing the power of a larger engine but with the fuel economy and lower emission benefits of a smaller 2.0 litre capacity thanks to a turbo charger. This all-alloy engine also produces 221lb ft of torque (300Nm) between 2,500-4,000rpm and can accelerate the Saab 9-3X from 0 - 60 mph in just 8.2 seconds. Both a six speed manual and automatic transmission are available.

The diesel variant, a 1.9 TTiD twin turbo engine produces an impressive 180hp and a punchy 295 lb ft (400Nm) of torque through the front wheels, but still keeps emissions low with 144 g/km. This engine, too, will be available with manual and automatic transmission.

Form meets function in stowage area
The Saab 9-3X is designed to make loading sports and leisure equipment easy: the rear cargo area with a low floor is surprisingly spacious and well-proportioned, and the compact design of the rear suspension allows a deep box-like space, free from intrusions, offering a useful rear seat up/down volume of 419/1287 litres (VDA).

The 60/40 split seat-back incorporates a ski-hatch and folds down without any need to move the fixed seat cushion. The fully carpeted rear load space is illuminated by two interior lights mounted on the inside of the D-pillars. It is accessed by a lightly-weighted tailgate that opens down to bumper level, its damper rods completely hidden in the roof to allow a clear, uncluttered opening. The flush-fitted, black moulded floor plate helps to protect against marks or scratches on the bumper during heavy use.

The Saab 9-3X's TwinFloor stowage facility also helps keep luggage and equipment safe and tidy. The middle section of the floor hinges upwards transversely when the handle is pulled so that the front edge fits into two retaining slots.

There is also a 12-volt power socket in the main load area (for a hot or cool box) and a separate storage compartment at either side of the floor, one fitted with a moulded holder for large bottles.

Marketing
The long running Saab/Salomon promotional partnership with be used in the UK as the main launch platform for the new Saab 9-3X. The car will be the featured vehicle at the popular Saab/Salomon trail running series where its excellent performance on gravel tracks will be well suited to athletes who want a performance vehicle that can take them all the way to the start of the trail.

The target market for the Saab 9-3X is modern individuals - independent minded people who enjoy life, culture, outdoors, sports & family. These are people with active lifestyles who have demands for versatility.

Renault Clio Estate, 2013

  •  Renault Clio Estate, 2013

Innovative New Renault Clio Estate breaks new ground on the sports tourer market, with its attractive styling inspired by range-topping models.

The athletic bodyshape contains all the functionality and modularity expected of segment B estates. The roomy 443dm3 VDA boot can be extended to a full 1,380dm3 by folding down the 1/3 - 2/3 split rear bench seat. When the front passenger seat is folded flat, New Renault Clio Estate boasts an unmatched loading length of 2.48m from the tailgate to the glove compartment.

New Renault Clio Estate offers all the qualities of the New Clio hatch, from comfort and safety, to vitality, features worthy of higher segments and two multimedia options. It heralds the launch of R-Link, Renault's multimedia tablet that forms an innovative link between the car and a networked lifestyle. The catalog of R-Link apps is unparalleled on the automotive market, and is available right from system launch.

New Clio Estate is equipped with a selection of latest-generation engines, including the Energy TCe 90 3-cylinder petrol unit and the Diesel Energy dCi 90 powerplant, which consumes just 3.2 l per 100km and is on a par with hybrids in terms of CO2 emissions, outputting just 83 g / km.

The renewed engine range is completed by the arrival of the EDC dual-clutch gearbox, which will be available on the TCe 120 engine in the first half of 2013, and on the dCi 90 at a later date.

INSPIRED BY SHOOTING BRAKES
Renault has added an original take on an estate to its New Clio range that continues the brand's drive towards irresistibly attractive styling. New Clio Estate arrives hot on the heels of New Clio hatch, the first vehicle in the range that fully expressed the renewal of Renault Design, initiated by Laurens van den Acker. With its refreshingly attractive lines and distinctive personality, inspired by sports tourers from higher up the range, New Clio Estate is clearly the second descendant of DeZir.

ELEGANT AND PRACTICAL
New Renault Clio Estate was one of the major revelations on the Renault stand at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. While it shares the same dynamic breeding as the hatchback, New Renault Clio Estate has its very own identity, with its carefully honed and fluid silhouette. Measuring 4.267m in length, this compact break is both high on style and accommodating. The wheelbase is the same as the hatchback, but at 825mm, the rear overhang is 204mm longer.

Research reveals that estate-car customers are strongly drawn towards the aesthetic design cues of shooting brakes. New Renault Clio Estate certainly has that style, along with practicality and versatility for good measure.

With its long bonnet and pronounced shoulder line, the profile flows smoothly to the rear, where the straight tailgate emphasizes the volume of the boot. As on the hatchback, the rear door handles are concealed in the C-pillars. The quarter light uprights and center pillars are integrated in the glass surfaces, producing an impression of harmonious continuity. The tailgate is topped by a curved wing above the rear window that elongates and stretches the line of the roof, which appears to float elegantly.

The new Clio Estate is also fitted with roof bars (aluminum in certain finishes) that blend in with the roof line. The optional glass roof makes for an even brighter interior.

UNMATCHED PERSONALIZATION
With New Renault Clio Estate, personalization finally comes naturally to a genuine sports tourer, and is available to the greatest number and in the top-selling versions.

The personalization offer is made up of three distinctive finishes - Trendy, Elegant and Sport - and a range of configurations of external hues, one dominant color for the decor and wheels, plus a graphic theme. Personalization was built into New Renault Clio Estate right from the drawing board, enhancing the car's strong personality with zones dedicated to the custom features that were reserved as part of the vehicle's design process. The mid-range versions can be personalized too, for an attractive and modular offer, and the factoryinstallation of the custom features guarantees incomparable quality.

For the exterior
Gloss black lacquer on the door mirror housings, rear bumper apron and side protective moldings, plus five different shades for the trim on the grille, rear hatch and side protective moldings (chrome, black, red, blue or ivory).
Black and ivory for the 16" diamond-effect wheels, plus four colors for the 17" diamond-effect wheels (black, red, blue and ivory).

For the interior
  •     Four ambience color schemes in the Dynamique equipment level: black, red, blue and Havana on the dashboard edging and door panels and upholstery trim. A finishing touch for each ambience comes in the form of carpet mats, available as accessories.
  •     The steering wheel, door panels, gear lever surround and air vent surrounds and are available in seven schemes: four colors (black, red, blue, Ivory) and three decorative finishes (Trendy, Elegant and Sport), directly incorporated using in-mold technology.

COLORS
Like the hatch version, New Renault Clio Estate will be available from launch in a choice of eight body colors, including the distinctive launch color, Flame Red, which takes its inspiration from the DeZir concept car.

Non-metallic finishes: Glacier White, French blue, Inca Yellow
Metallic finishes: Ardent Brown, Diamond Black, Flame Red, Mercury Grey, Oyster Grey

NEW CLIO ESTATE ADDS VOLUME TO EMOTION
Style and functionality come together in harmony in New Renault Clio Estate. The readily 443dm3 boot can be extended to a full 1,380dm3. The maximum loading length of 2.48m sets a new record in the segment, thanks to the passenger seat that can be folded flat towards the front of the vehicle. Even the passengers in the rear have more space, with an extra 15mm of headroom compared with the hatchback.

THE MOST PRACTICAL CLIO OF ALL

The highly modular New Renault Clio Estate will appeal to customers looking for a bold design and advanced functionality.

The boot measures 443dm3 under the rear shelf, with the rear bench seat in position and the floor removed, a full 143dm3, or 50%, more than the hatchback, of which 85dm3 is under the extractible floor in the boot. When the 1/3 - 2/3 split rear bench seat is completely folded away, the boot measures 1,380dm3.

Access to the boot is made easier by the exceptionally low loading sill, at a height of 604mm (150mm lower than in the hatchback), that is also flush, so that objects can slide rather than having to be lifted.

The tailgate opening is also larger than in the hatchback, measuring 685mm in height (+133 mm) and 994mm (+ 89mm) at its widest point. Bicycles and other large objects fit in the boot quite comfortably.

THE ADVANTAGES OF THE EXTRACTIBLE BOOT FLOOR
In position: the boot floor provides a flat loading surface that is flush with the boot sill.
Raised: ready access to objects concealed under the boot floor.
Extracted: adds 85dm3 to the volume of the boot.

THE INTELLIGENCE OF THE FLAT-FOLDING FRONT PASSENGER SEAT
The front passenger seat with a backrest that can be fully folded towards the dashboard is a specific feature of New Renault Clio Estate. Combined with the flat floor function, the fully folding passenger seat offers a "record-breaking" loading length of 2.48m in all versions. Furniture or long objects, such as surfboards, can be transported comfortably and easily: an exceptional feature in this type of supermini estate.

ROOMY STORAGE COMPARTMENTS
New Clio Estate occupants benefit from plenty of practical stowage space located throughout the cabin:
a tray in front of the gear lever which can hold items like a portable music player, mobile phone or portable CD player
a large seven-liter glove box capable of containing a 1.5-litre bottle of water
a 1.2-litre tray situated above the glove box for keys, a mobile phone, gate remote controls and a telephone
three easy-to-access cup holders and additional stowage for small items between the seats at the foot of the centre console
stowage in the optional central armrest (almost one liter)
bins in each door designed to contain a 1.5-litre bottle of water

AND MORE HEADROOM TOO
With an extra 15mm of headroom in the rear seats compared with the hatchback, New Renault Clio Estate offers even more space for family and friends.

THE SAME TECHNICAL QUALITIES AS THE HATCHBACK: ECONOMY, COMFORT AND PERFORMANCE

New Renault Clio Estate boasts the same technical fundamentals and qualities as New Clio. The engines head the segment with the same fuel consumption figures as the hatchback, while delivering just as much pleasure at the wheel. New Clio Estate takes great care of its occupants and packs in the latest technology from Renault.

THE MOST FUEL-ECONOMICAL PETROL AND DIESEL ENGINES
New Renault Clio Estate also innovates through the quality and fuel-economy of its engines, which place it in the forefront of the estates in segment B:
the brand new Renault Energy TCe 90 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, combining performance and economy: homologated at 4.5l / 100km and 104g of CO2 / km.
the best diesel on the market: the most fueleconomical version of the Renault Energy dCi 90 fitted with Stop&Start consumes just 3.2l / 100km and emits only 83g of CO2 / km (figures homologated according to NEDC regulations).
the combination of the Efficient Dual Clutch transmission and the downsized TCe 120 EDC petrol engine, available in mid-2013, achieves moderate consumption while offering a dynamic drive. The EDC will be available with the dCi 90 engine in the course of 2013.

FUEL SAVINGS THROUGH ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY
Stop & Start: automatically stops the engine when the vehicle is at a standstill and in neutral.

Energy Smart Management (ESM): charges the battery when the demand for energy drops under braking and when decelerating.

Flap control: optimizes the vehicle's aerodynamics by automatically adapting the air flow through the radiators to the engine's cooling requirements.

A DYNAMIC, SAFE AND COMFORTABLE RIDE
New Renault Clio Estate has been specifically finetuned to offer the same quality of comfort and performance as the hatchback:
The Macpherson-type front suspension is linked to a right-angled triangular lower wishbone with twin bushes. This configuration blends sharp handling with excellent comfort and minimizes the effect of longitudinal and transverse loads. A high level of transverse torsional stiffness also benefits road holding without compromising the car's ability to soak up longitudinal shocks, which is vital for the comfort of occupants.
The rigid sub-frame guarantees responsive handling and also improves steering precision.
The rear suspension comprises a programmeddeflection torsion beam with coil springs. To optimize cornering stability, an anti-roll bar is incorporated the deformable profile.
Polyurethane bump stops for more progressive shock absorption.
Very direct electric power steering (2.71 turns, lock to lock).
Pendulum weights and carbon synchromesh rings that ensure faster, smoother gear changes.

FEATURES BEFITTING HIGHER SEGMENTS
Like every other generation of Renault Clio, New Renault Clio Estate stands out by packing in features that are brand new or usually only found in vehicles in higher segments.

Almost all of the engines are equipped with hill start assist. Every version is equipped with the cruise control-speed limiter, ESC, traction control, ABS, emergency brake assist and variable-rate electric power steering.

For greater comfort of use, all the versions are equipped with a keyless electronic card, a height- and depth-adjustable steering wheel, electric door mirrors and window lifts and one-touch indicator lights. Certain versions are equipped with automatic climate control complete with an active charcoal/carbon pollen filter and a toxicity sensor.

Every version of New Renault Clio Estate are fitted with the Renault Bass Reflex, which delivers the volume and listening enjoyment of a 30-litre home speaker enclosure. The bass frequencies are more powerful, while the saturation and distortion thresholds are pushed back.

All the radios feature the Bluetooth® function to make hands-free telephone calls and to listen to music stored on portable devices in audio streaming mode with topquality sound reproduction. All the radios are fitted with USB and jack ports. New Clio Estate also features a reversing camera connected to the multimedia systems.

The versions equipped with R-Link also benefit from 3D sound by Arkamys®. Thanks to special digital signal processing software, this system adds depth and texture to listening pleasure thanks to spatial positioning of the sound (selection of the zones covered by the sound inside the cab: for the driver only, for front occupants only or for all occupants).

TWO MULTIMEDIA SYSTEMS WITH THE LAUNCH OF RENAULT R-LINK
New Renault Clio Estate heralds the launch of Renault R-Link. This innovative integrated tablet is connected to both the car and the internet at the same time. It provides quick and easy access to a broad selection of useful services. A catalog containing some 50 apps is already available from the R-Link Store. These automotive-specific applications already cover a comprehensive range of fields. R-Link Store is already well placed to set the standard as an automotive application provider. And Renault R-Link puts New Renault Clio Estate one step ahead of the competition in terms of multimedia features.

MULTIMEDIA INNOVATION BY RENAULT
New Renault Clio Estate boasts a unique double multimedia system, with its central docking station for an integrated 7" tablet. The navigation system, radio, telephone and networking for mobile appliances are all grouped together in the same place. But MEDIA-NAV and Renault R-Link serve different but close-fitting purposes:

Accessing essential multimedia functions is easier than ever with MEDIA-NAV. With its 2D and 3D birdview displays, and audio and multimedia data functions, the Nav N Go navigation system meets the needs of most users. The NAVTEQ maps are updated by a dedicated web interface.
Renault R-Link is connected to both the car and the internet at the same time. The complete, attractive and user-friendly Renault R-Link system in New Renault Clio Estate offers motorists all the services that they have also dreamt of. With around 50 apps, the R-Link Store is already well placed to set the standard as an automotive application provider.

STAY CONNECTED WITH R-LINK
The performance and ease of use of Renault R-Link, available as standard or as an option priced €590, will appeal to all technically-minded drivers.

The large 7" (18cm) touch-screen is backed up by intuitive voice controls.

The six-icon menu provides direct access to all the applications: navigation, multimedia, hands-free telephone, the vehicle itself, services and applications, plus the system settings. And the customizable Home Page is unique on the market.

DESIGNED FOR USE AT THE WHEEL IN COMPLETE SAFETY
The system's functions are designed to be used intuitively and in complete safety by drivers, without taking their eyes off the road. Designed for intuitive use, Renault R-Link features fingertip and voice controls.
